Book Club – Jaz Santos vs. The World
Each week participants will be asked to complete set reading from this an empowering and relatable story. Sessions will provide young people with the opportunity to read aloud and to exchange their thoughts and responses to the text. Exploring ideas, narrative features and undertaking analysis of character behaviour, will provide participants with the opportunity to enhance and develop a variety of skills.
Participants will receive feedback on their reading accuracy, expression and fluency.
Book Club – When Life Gives You Mangoes
‘When Life Gives You Mangoes’ is set in Jamaica. Written by Kereen Getten, this gripping story has already been featured in the Guardian, The Sunday Times and Oprah Magazine.

KS1 Number Bonds Master Class
Knowledge of number bonds is essential when it comes to solving more complex calculations involving addition and subtraction. Having a secure recall of number bonds enables children to solve mental calculations with greater ease.
This lesson will provide children with the opportunity to revisit number bonds through a variety of questions and activities.
Y3-Y4 Master Class in Multi-Step worded maths problems
This lesson will take children through a series of multi-step word problems. Participants will be:

An introduction to debating
Using well know children’s stories (or topical issues for older children), this interactive workshop will give your children the opportunity to learn how to structure, write and deliver a persuasive argument.
KS2 Master Class in Homophones
There are lots of words in the English language that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings. Many children and indeed some adults regularly misuse homophones in their writing. This session will identify any misconceptions your child may have in relation to homophones and teach them how to use them appropriately.
KS2 Mastering Maths Assessments
This session will walk children through exam style questions and give them techniques that they can use in exams to help them maximise their marks.
What is Racism?
Exploring what racism actually means, how it operates and how we can spot it. Understanding internalised racism and how non-white minorities can carry negative self-talk simply from growing up in a majority white country. We will guide the students through a journey of self-discovery, understanding unconscious bias and how to navigate the systems we live in today.
Exploring History and Combatting Stereotypes
Exploring British history, what is taught in schools and which parts of history is omitted. Understanding how British history impacts on the world we live in today, including stereotypes. How to challenge stereotypes and become allies to each other.
How Will I Combat Racism and Create a Better World?
Exploring different leadership styles and what qualities each of us have that make us a unique leader. Self-reflection and short presentation on how each student will combat racism and create a better world for everyone.
Preparing for the 11+ interview
The session will focus on how the 11+ interview for independent schools are conducted, exploring what types of questions might be asked and how children might like to consider their answers to these questions. Preparatory lessons gives children time to think in advance about their answers and gain confidence ahead of their big day. They will have an opportunity to rehearse presentation skills.
